Dr. Rick Scherr

Dr. Rick Scherr founded Big Sky Animal Medical Center in 1996. He is a 1989 graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has previous experience at practices in New Orleans, LA, Bozeman and Great Falls.

​Dr. Scherr did a surgical internship at All-Care Animal Referral Center in Fountain Valley, CA from 2002 to 2003. He then went on to attend Slocum Enterprises TPLO program in 2003. Since then he has performed over 3000+ of these surgeries. In 2005 he attended the BioMedtrix Total Hip Replacement course and has performed over 300+ of these surgeries. Dr. Scherr received training on placement of intra-tracheal stents in 2007. In 1999 Dr. Scherr was certified to freeze canine semen through Synbiotics and in 2004 became an AKC-approved center.​

Dr. Scherr’s professional interests include orthopedics, neurosurgery and soft tissue surgery. He performs referral surgery at Big Sky Animal Medical Center and travels for surgery in western Montana.
